“One of the important factors for the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union is the existence of the platforms such as the EU-Georgia Business Council, which has been working very successfully for the convergence and integration of Georgian and European businesses over the years,” – the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Irakli Nadareishvili, told the reporters, while attending the annual meeting of the EU-Georgia Business Council members at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel.

He estimates that already more than 800 Georgian companies are exporting products to the EU market, which is a significant achievement. "According to the latest data, the Georgian exports to the EU countries have increased by 13%, while since 2014, when the Free Trade Agreement was signed, the total number of the Georgian exporting companies has enlarged by 44%,” - the Deputy Minister noted.

Irakli Nadareishvili emphasized the government’s role and activity in this direction. "It is important that more than 125 EU Directives have been approximated within the framework of the DCFTA, ensuring that the Georgian business and state will benefit more from the deep and comprehensive free trade relations with the European Union,” - the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.
