“We discussed joint logistics projects with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, which we recently discussed in Tbilisi as part of the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Georgia. You are aware that we are investing in infrastructure in Georgia, including port and railway infrastructure and, of course, it will be loaded and developed if the corridor fully utilizes this infrastructure, first of all, it depends on our relations and cooperation with Azerbaijan,” – Natia Turnava stated after the meeting with Mikayil Jabbarov, the Azerbaijan Economy Minister in Baku.

According to Natia Turnava, very close, business and friendly relations are being formed between the two countries and the Ministries of Economy, which promote the development of joint terminal projects, the accelerated completion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, etc. “We are also talking about the completely new, exciting projects in the Black Sea that could involve Azerbaijani or state-owned relevant structures, which will, in general, enhance the competitiveness of our common corridor,” – Natia Turnava said

According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the two agencies are also talking about large, joint energy projects, as Georgia is rapidly developing its energy infrastructure, including new generation facilities. “I have introduced to my colleague a new initiative, which involves the deployment of high voltage electricity on the Black Sea seabed that will connect Georgia to the EU energy market. The project will, of course, be given more commercial significance if the regional countries are involved, including Azerbaijan, which already is our reliable partner because it participates in our electricity supply when the Georgian market is in shortage of electricity,” – Natia Turnava commented.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Akaki Saghirashvili, Expert of the Administration of the Government of Georgia on East-West Energy Corridor Giorgi Vashakmadze, Chairman of the Board of Governors of JSC Georgian State Electrosystem Ucha Uchaneishvili, Director General of the JSC Georgian Oil and Gas Givi Bakhtadze, Executive Director of Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway LLC Levan Kankava, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway Oleg Bichiashvili and Advisor to the Director General of the JSC Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation David Oniani were the members of the Georgian delegation.
