Natia Turnava Held Online Conference with Ambassadors of EU Countries

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava held a video conference with the EU Ambassadors following the initiative of the EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell. Natia Turnava provided detailed information on the anti-crisis plan of the Georgian Government and its progress, as well as the strategy to bring the country out of the crisis caused by the pandemic, including a new investment company in the country and the readiness of Georgia, to host international travelers and offer them a safe vacation from July 1.

Ambassadors of 20 EU member states, as well as the Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterine Mikabadze and Genadi Arveladze attended the online conference.

“I confirmed our gratefulness for their support both in terms of our reforms and the assistance provided to Georgia during the fight against the pandemic. I briefed the EU Ambassadors on the economic strategy aimed at mitigating the crisis, as well as our future plans on how to support the economy in the post-crisis period,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated after the online conference. According to Natia Turnava, the Ambassadors accredited to Georgia were interested in the re-opening of the tourism sector in Georgia.

“We shared our views on what expectations we have, how attractive Georgia is and we are ready to host guests from the European Union from July 1 in compliance with all safety standards. We also heard from the EU Ambassadors about the readiness of their countries and we saw a great desire on their part to restore direct flights and connections between our societies as soon as possible as well as the cooperation in the field of tourism,” – the Minister added. Turnava also highlighted that the Ambassadors were also interested in Georgia’s renewed investment policy.
