Natia Turnava Examined Batumi International Airport Reconstruction Works

“The capacity of the Batumi International Airport will be doubled up to 1,2 million passengers a year. However, after the reconstruction, the airport will be able to serve up to 1,5 million passengers a year,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated to the media when accompanying the Prime Minister of Georgia to examine the reconstruction works at the Batumi International Airport. The reconstruction is being implemented by the TAV-Georgia.

According to the Minister, the Arrival and Departure Halls of the Airport will be reconstructed, which will significantly increase the comfort of the passengers. “Once the global challenge related to the Covid-19 Pandemic is over, the development of the tourism in Georgia will continue and the tourists statistics will return to the upward trend. The Batumi International Airport and this project are part of the optimistic vision that the Airport’s management fully shares with us, and we will support this process,” – Natia Turnava said.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to expand the existing passenger terminal building on the Arrival side by 30 meters, and on the departure side - by 42 meters. TAV Georgia will invest 14 million USD in the Batumi International Airport expansion project. The infrastructure works will be completed by the end of February 2021.
