Natia Turnava: Regular flights between Tbilisi and Riga will be restored since 5th August
28-07-2020

Regular traffic between the capitals of Georgia and Latvia will be resumed on 5th August. Negotiations on this issue have already been completed between the LEPL Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the AirBaltic. According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, this decision is very important, because the three Baltic states are on the list of five European countries with which Georgia has unconditionally opened the border.

“Georgian citizens will be able to visit the Baltic countries, as well as Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian guests will be able to arrive in Georgia. It is important that negotiations were held regarding flight frequencies. “During 5-20 August, there will be one flight a week, which is justified from the epidemiological point of view, and after August 20, if the situation regarding the Covid pandemic allows it, there will be two flights a week,” – the Minister noted and added that commercial charter flights as well as regular flights within the safe corridors will be operated from Georgia starting August 2020.

From August 2020, regular flights will also be resumed to Munich and Paris. From 2nd August, the Lufthansa will resume Munich-Tbilisi-Munich flights, and from 8th August, the Air France will resume regular Paris-Tbilisi-Paris flights.
