Topical issues of the hospitality sector, including preparations for the current and winter tourist season, were discussed at a meeting held by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava with the representatives of small and medium-sized hotels and tourist facilities in Kakheti.

The beneficiaries of the Enterprise Georgia’s programs also attended the meeting, which was conducted in the interactive mode.

Natia Turnava informed the representatives of the hospitality sector on the new component of the Enterprise Georgia Agency, which supports the development of the agro and eco tourisms.

“We offered them to take part in a new program aimed at promoting agro and eco tourism, which includes subsidies on loan interest, credit guarantees and, most importantly, a grant component. In fact, all hotels can use the agro and eco tourism support component, and this is a really good opportunity that enables them to expand their activities,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated.

The meeting also stressed the importance of effective and rapid recovery of the sector, and a number of supporting programs and initiatives are being implemented for this purpose.

However, it was noted that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the positive, results-oriented work of the Government, the private sector and the partners has maintained positive trends in the tourism sector.

Director of the Enterprise Georgia Agency, Mikheil Khidureli, Acting Deputy Head of the National Tourism Administration, Tamar Koriauli, State Representative of Kakheti Region, Irakli Shioshvili and Majoritarian MP of the region, Irakli Kadagishvili also attended the meeting.
