Levan Davitashvili met with US-Georgia Business Council Representatives

During the working visit to the United States, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the representatives of the US-Georgia Business Council and discussed the priorities of bilateral economic relations with them. Davitashvili introduced the current economic trends in Georgia and talked about specific investment projects.

At the board meeting, which was held in a round table format, Levan Davitashvili briefed American business representatives on Georgia’s economic performance, as well as the current processes in the region, their impact and challenges. The interest expressed by the American business towards the Georgian economy covers a number of fields including energy, transport and logistics, communications, financial sector, etc. Special emphasis was placed on the the development of information technology and the use of renewable energy sources.

“Energy is a topical issue today. We talked to the US business representatives about the fact that Georgia has great potential for renewable energy production. At the same time, Georgia is considered as an alternative route for supplying energy to Europe. There are also great opportunities for exporting renewable energy to the country, which is of great interest to the US investors,” – Davitashvili stated afted the meeting.

Levan Davitashvili highlighted that the meeting focused on new opportunities that may arise in the region. According to the Minister, Georgia’s role in the region is special and Georgia is an ally that connects Europe with Central Asia and the Middle East.

It was noted at the meeting that Georgia’s economic relations with the United States is a priority and that the US investments in Georgia will be maximally supported.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze and Ambassador of Georgia to the United States, Davit Zalkaliani also participated in the meeting of the US-Georgia Business Council.
