Levan Davitashvili Discussed Possibilities of Entering Georgian Market with Global Technology Company – HCL Technologies

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, who is part of the Georgian government delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, met with Kalyan Kumar, Head of Ecosystems at HCL Technologies, a global technology company.

The possibilities of the HCL Technologies entering the Georgian market and opening of a branch for the supply of information technology products to the international markets were discussed at the meeting. The tax regime, which applies to IT companies operating under the international status and provides for tax incentives, has been positively assessed. It was said that this decision creates favorable conditions for global technology companies that will enter Georgia and supply their technological products to international markets.

Other measures taken by the Government of Georgia to develop the ecosystem in the country and to train local staff was also a part of the conversation. It was noted that the Agency for Innovation and Technology is currently implementing a certificate training program for 3000 IT professionals, and from 2022, following the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, the agency will train an additional 5000 specialists, which is an additional argument for foreign companies to open offices in Georgia.

HCL Technologies operates in 52 countries around the world, including such countries as the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA, Belgium, Israel, France, Lithuania, Finland, etc.

At the end of the meeting, the Georgian side invited HCL Technologies to the country to study the local market in Georgia and its investment opportunities.
