Levan Davitashvili Held Meeting with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, who arrived in Georgia within the working visit.

The conversation covered main directions of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the importance a free trade agreement between the two countries, which is to cover such important aspects of economic relations as trade of goods, rules of origin and procedures of origin, customs administration and trade promotion, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, trade protection measures, investment, trade of services, digital trade, etc.

It was highlighted that bilateral trade between Georgia and the Emirates is characterized by increasing dynamics – in January 2023, exports was increased by 132%, while in 2022 – by 51%.

As it was noted during the meeting, the implementation of the agreement will have a positive impact on the dynamics of trade and will additionally pave the way for Georgian producers to the 10-million market of the United Arab Emirates.

The discussion also touched upon the deepening cooperation in such sectors of economic as tourism, investments and many others.

Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze and Ambassador of Georgia to the United Arab Emirates, Paata Kalandadze also attended the meeting.
