Levan Davitashvili at USAID Economic Security Program Closing Event

First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development delivered a speech at the closing event of the USAID Economic Security Program. Levan Davitashvili spoke about the importance of the program and thanked the US Agency for International Development for the work done within it. As the First Vice Prime Minister noted, the program played a leading role within the USAID's economic support.

"For many years, within the framework of the various programs and projects, the USAID and the USA have been supporting Georgia, and this is an example of very successful cooperation. The economic security program was carried out with the intensive involvement and close partnership of the Ministry and played an important role in supporting the economic goals of our country and promoting the development of the private sector. With its help, new jobs were created in the country, the competitiveness of businesses was raised and Georgia's potential was presented on a global scale" – Levan Davitashvili stated.

Economic security program in Georgia with a budget of 25 mln USD had been operating since 2019, and its goal was to support the long-term growth of Georgia's economic sector in cooperation with the government and the private sector. The program covered a number of economic sectors and industries, including: light industry, tourism, technologies, etc.

"During this period, the foundation was laid for such successful activities as developing the concept and establishing of the Enterprise Georgia Agency’s consulting centres in the regions, inviting scouts of investment locations in the country, preparing investment proposals and studies, large-scale events in the direction of tourism in terms of hosting "influencers" and bloggers, as well as providing Georgian startups with access to Silicon Valley accelerators," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.

USAID Economic Security Program closing event was attended by US Ambassador to Georgia Robin Dunnigan, representatives of the public and private sector, partner organizations and beneficiaries of the program. In his speech, Levan Davitashvili noted that the US Agency for International Development will continue to support the development of Georgia's economy and launch several new programs during the year, including: the Green Economy Program, the Green Transport and Logistics Program and the Agriculture Trade.

"These programs and the priorities set within them are in line with the strategic goals of the Ministry and will contribute to the economic development of the country. I am sure that our cooperation and interaction will be productive within the framework of the following programs" – the First Vice Prime Minister said.
