Electricity Trade Expansion Discussed in Turkey

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze and Giorgi Chikovani discussed the expansion of the electricity trade opportunities between Georgia and Turkey with the Turkish colleagues during the working meeting held at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey.

Decision on establishing the working group was achieved several days ago in Azerbaijan, during the meeting of the First Vice Prime Minister of  Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Stainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili with the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Berat Albayrak, where the counterparts agreed on creating that group in order to solve the important energy issues between the two countries. 

Significance of the trade of the electricity between the countries, which implies the growth of import-export-transit potential as well as the reliability of power supply, the stability of energy system and the development of the energy hub function was also discussed at the meeting. Next meeting was agreed to be held in Tbilisi this March.
