The Economic Growth Rate of 2017 Equaled to 5%

In 2017, the economy of Georgia enjoyed the 5% growth compared to the previous year, the first Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili highlighted in his speech on the foreign investment plan.

The EU delegation, which is visiting Georgia, is headed by the Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of EU, Katarina Mathernova.

Having introduced the main economic indicators of Georgia to the EU delegation, Dimitry Kumsishvili reminded the attendants of high economic growth observed in 2017, and added that it was today that certain numbers were specified. “If you remember, by 2017, according to the preliminary estimates, we managed to have 4.8% increase in economy, but today, as follows to the specifications undertaken, I am pleased to tell you that in 2017 the economy grew by 5%,” - Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.

According to Dimitry Kumsishvili, significant positive contribution to the economic growth of 2017 was achieved through the introduction of foreign trade and net exports of goods and services. The positive contribution of investments and consumption in economic growth was also positively assessed.
