Dimitry Kumsishvili Opened Georgia-Belarus Business Forum

First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili opened the Georgia-Belarus Business Forum.

Business delegation from Belarus arrived to Georgia within the framework of the official visit of the Republic of Georgia, Aleksander Lukashenko. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Mikhail Rusyi is visiting Georgia as well. 

Dimitry Kumsishvili, in his speech at the Business Forum, highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Georgia and the Republic of Georgia, which became even stronger within the recent years.

The First Vice Prime Minister confirmed that the official visit of the Belarus President to Georgia will play the dramatic role in terms of further enhancing of the relations between the two countries and transition onto the new, higher level of partnership. 

“Brilliant example of cooperation between the two countries is the successful joint project of lift producing enterprise which was established on the basis of the Georgian Technical University. The enterprise started its production several days ago. I am happy that the venture has been launched within the framework of the visit of the President of the Belarus Republic,” – Dimitry Kumsishvili noted.

The First Vice Prime Minister introduced Georgia’s business environment and the reforms implemented during the recent years to the Belarus delegation and the guests to the Forum. He also talked about the economic growth, the growth of foreign direct investments, reforms in the different sectors, including income tax reform, governance reform, spatial arrangement reform, etc.

Dimitry Kumsishvili once again emphasized the increased trade turnover between Georgia and Belarus in 2017, which, compared to 2016, was increased by 24% and amounted to 27.47 million USD.

About 100 Belarus companies are participating in the Georgia-Belarus Business Forum. Belarus businessmen, who represent such field of economy as food industry, machinery, construction, logistics and tourism, are interested in finding business partners in Georgia.
