Air Traffic in Georgian Airspace Increased by 10.5%

According to the statistics of the first 5 months of 2018, the number of flights in Georgia’s airspace is increased by 10.5%. Statistics is improved regarding the passing flights as well as departures and arrivals. Relevant information was published by the Sakaeronavigatsia Ltd of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

In January-May 2018, there were 57 919 instrumental flight performed in Georgia’s airspace. This indicator is by 5 500 or by 10.5% higher compared to the same period of 2017.

The total number of flights during the last five months equals to 41 925, which is by 2246 or 5.7% larger number compared to the same period of 2017. The number arrivals and departures totaled to 15994, which is by 3254 or 25.5% higher indicator compared to the same period of 2017.

The total distance of the flights in January-May in Georgian air space equaled to 16 385 340 km. This indicator is by 32 454 km or 0,2% less compared to the same period of the 2017, which is a positive outcome of the free routes concept introduced by the Sakaeronavigatsi Ltd.

TURKISH AIRLINES INC, QATAR AIRWAYS, THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL LTD, AZERBAIJAN AIRLINES - AZAL, SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD are the companies that use the Georgian airspace most frequently. In 2018, the Georgian Airways, TURKISH AIRLINES, WIZZ AIR and the UKAINE AIRLINES were the top consumers of the runways of the Georgian airports.
