Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Cherkezishvili held a meeting with the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Janez Kopač. On-going and scheduled reforms in the energy sector of Georgia were discussed during the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Chikovani.

Special emphasis was paid to the ongoing reforms in the energy sector, which will result in enhanced energy liberalization, attractive international capital and much more integrated regional energy system that will increase the quality of the country’s energy security and stability.

Progress achieved by Georgia in terms of reforms in the energy sector was particularly highlighted. The special emphasis was also paid to the steps taken in the development of a relevant legislation. The focus was on a number of bills that were prepared in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and are now sent to the Parliament for discussion.

Issues related to the regional cooperation in the energy sector was also covered during the conversation.
