EU Financed Project of Elaborating National Methodology and National Standards for Calculating Energy Efficiency of Buildings Launched

On July 10, with the financial support of the European Union and the assistance of Energy Community, the new project of National Methodology of Energy Efficiency Calculation of Buildings and Supporting National Standards in Georgia was launched from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The main objective of this initiative is to assist in the implementation of the national methodology for calculation of regulatory normative acts, particularly energy efficiency calculation and national standards related to the implementation of the energy efficiency law of buildings. The project will be implemented within the framework of the project of EU4Energy, which is being also implemented with the EU assistance.

Irma Kavtaradze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgina chaired the opening of the meeting. The Director of Energy Community Janez Kopac and the Program Officer of the EU Delegation to Georgia Andrey Bartoshevich paid particular attention to the importance of the project while addressing the audience.

Participants discussed the activities planned within the project, the period of implementation and the expected results, including the forms of cooperation and the ways of making the national decisions.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry and the private sector as well as experts from the energy field.
