“This Forum is an important platform for the development of cooperation between the two countries and it has already brought tangible results,” – the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ekaterine Mikabadze told journalists when evaluating the Georgia-Czech Business Forum and the prospects of economic cooperation between the two countries.

“Several days ago, as you well know, the GeoStat published the DFI index which introduced the Czech Republic as Georgia’s fourth largest investor country. The data also showed that the volume of export as well as import is also increased, which clearly illustrates that cooperation between the two countries is expanding. Such Forums provide opportunities for investors to get familiar with the situation in the country and become aware of Georgia being one of the best destinations for DFI in the world. The Forum is a platform that guaranties the success of the business meetings,” – Ekaterine Mikabadze stated.

Georgia-Czech Business Forum, which was organized by Georgian and Czech Chambers of Commerce and Industry, was held at Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterine Mikabadze, President of Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nino Chikovani, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Marta Nováková and Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Czech Republic, Bořivoj Minář opened the event.

21 Czech companies representing such sectors as infrastructure, logistics, medical tourism, mechanical engineering participated in the Forum. Among the participants there were the representatives of such large Czech companies, as ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s, ŠKODA ELECTRIC, etc.

N.B. According to the data of the first 7 months of 2018, bilateral trade turnover between Georgia and the Czech Republic, compared to the same period of 2017, is increased by 35% and amounts to 55.82 million USD – the volume of export is increased by 9% and reaches 5.97 million USD, while the import is increased by 39% and equals to 49.85 million USD.
