George Kobulia Opened Global Entrepreneurship Week at Tech Park

Global Entrepreneurship Week was launched today in Tbilisi Tech Park, which will continue until November 18. Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, George Kobulia opened the event. As the Minister noted during the opening speech, the Global Entrepreneurship Week is one of the largest international project targeted at the facilitation of the formation of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, promotion of the entrepreneurship and startup business.

Within the framework of the project, over 30 000 events are being held simultaneously in more than 170 countries annually, with more than 20 million people involved. The Global Entrepreneurship Week is being organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network with the co-organization of the Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The project is financially supported by the US Embassy in Georgia.

Main goal and purpose of the GEW is to promote young innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists and any interested person to introduce their products and services at the international platform. “I believe that the GEW will be the best opportunity for Georgian and international specialists to exchange their knowledge and experience, which will result in emerging of new innovative businesses and competitive startups in the market,” –the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated.

According to George Kobulia, one of the priorities of the Government of Georgia is to promote commercialization of the knowledge-based and innovation-based ideas.

The Global Entrepreneurship Week program involves all the regional Technology and Innovation centers of Georgia. They will host various activities within the week. It should be noted that this GWE pays special attention to the gender issue in entrepreneurship.
