Ekaterine Mikabadze Overviewed Business Environment Inclusive Development at Eastern Partnership Business Forum 2018

A Stronger Economy for Stronger Societies – Investing in People for Sustainable Growth – this was the main theme of the Eastern Partnership Annual Conference, which was attended by Ekaterine Mikabadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The conference held in Vienna, Austria, was also attended by the governmental delegations of the Eastern Partnership countries.

One of the panels was dedicated to the inclusive development of the business environment, where Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia spoke about the trends in economy, the ongoing reforms and the inclusive growth.

Ekaterine Mikabadze highlighted the importance of the well-educated and qualified workers as a precondition for the sustainable economic growth in the country. According to Mikabadze, the challenges of the labor market require structural solutions. In this regard, Georgian Government, together with the international financial organizations, is in the process of developing a comprehensive education complex. According to Ekaterine Mikabadze, the implementation of the education reform is of great importance in terms of improving productivity and adjusting the skills to the labor market requirements. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development also talked about the short-term and long-term programs of vocational training that will prepare the workforce to develop their professional skills required by the labor market. According to the Deputy Minister, these training programs will significantly reduce the number of self-employed people.

Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katariná Mathernová, Vice-Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania Marius Skuodis, Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Titarchuk and other officials also participated in the conference.
