Giorgi Kobulia Met with Members of Business Association of Georgia

“Georgia is globally known for the simplicity of doing business here and we should not only maintain this position, but improve it even further,” – George Kobulia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia stated after the meeting with the members of the Business Association of Georgia.

Heads of over 50 large companies of the Business Association of Georgia attended the meeting. In his welcoming speech, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development talked about the main directions of the economic policy of Georgia, the ongoing and planned reforms and the further plans. He focused on such important decisions as the judicial system, capital market development, insolvency reforms, etc.

George Kobulia noted that Georgian Government is paying great attention to the further perfection of the business environment and intends to implement important decisions in this direction. “Today, the main challenges are the two main factors determining the competitiveness of Georgia, which are the qualification of the workforce and the logistical advantages. If we do not increase the qualification of our workforce, we will not be able to accelerate the growth rate of the investments and the business activity,’ – the Minister noted. According to the Minister, the Government also prioritizes the development of the transport and logistics systems that will help the country to acquire the new economic functions.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development expressed gratefulness to the members of the Business Association for their cooperation and underlined the desire to continue this communication in more intensive format.

George Kobulia’s welcoming speech was followed by the discussion.

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterine Mikabadze, Lasha Mikava and Akaki Saghirashvili as well as the Business Ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nino Chikovani also participated in the meeting.
